Week 2 :)

This week I learned more about coding and got an unwelcome reminder as to how annoying debugging code can be. Because of some technical bugs on the verge of being worked out the website is not yet live, but I will update this blog post in a few days when it is (hopefully Monday). This week Riley and I worked on designing how we would like the website to look, and how it will be organized. We also planned the content for the site once we are able to get it live. This means we are a bit behind schedule in terms of our initial plan because some aspects are taking longer than anticipated. It's hard to show what it looks like at its current stage, so for the time being we will leave you all in suspense until the website goes up.

Special thanks to Reese Hart for helping us design a logo for our website which I will link here →_____  later in the week once it is live. If anyone has any suggestions for games to play feel free to leave suggestions.

Our Raft!
This week we were still highly focused on the website, but we did get around to playing Raft with a group of our friends, which was a lot of fun. Raft is a multiplayer survival game that takes place in a world destroyed by a disaster that caused everything to flood and ocean levels to rise (possibly global warming). Players gather floating debris to expand their raft and together they must survive, and make their way through the game's story. We didn't make it very far mostly because we were building and messing around, but we will likely finish the game in the next week. I hope to get some video clips of that playthrough so that next week I can show the funny moments that happened, because some things are just funnier in the moment but don't make much sense when written out.

To answer Josh’s question from last week, my PC’s CPU is the Intel i7 11700k and I have a RX 6700 XT graphics card. I can’t remember Riley’s specs off the top of my head but I know she has an Nvidia card.

If anyone else has any questions feel free to leave a comment!

  2. Hi, Sophia! Thanks for including a screenshot of Raft. What could be better than a little post-apocalpytic cooperation?

As someone who knows virtually nothing about debugging, I'm imagining that there are specific steps you use to begin the process. What are a few steps you use to systematically debug a program? I hope I'm able to understand your answer...

Glad you and Riley are having fun!
