First Blog Post

For my senior project I am working with Riley Hart, and together we are making a website about gaming where we will review games and focus on creating virtual connections with friends. We chose this project because the pandemic forced us to connect with people online more than ever before. Our friend group found online games as a point of connection, and while Riley and I had experience with gaming some of our friends did not. We noticed because of that some games were better for us to all play together than others. Many games contain similar interfaces so if you have experience with any games others will be easier to pick up, however the initial learning curve can be steep and can make games more frustrating than fun.  Our goals for this project are:

- To create a webpage that reviews games with consideration of  how user friendly they are.

- Play games with friends and document the experience so we can use information for our website.

-To learn how to make a website using html and css.

We both have some experience coding with python and thus far in the project we have learned the basics of html and used it to make a very rough first website. Here is a VERY rough example of how the coding process works. The left is the code and the right is how it is displayed as a webpage.

Our website will be live by next week, you have any questions or suggestions for games you would like to see us play and review leave a comment!

  2. Hi, Sophia!
I'm impressed that you've got two levels of activity going on here: the gaming, and the website design using css and html coding. It'll be exciting to see which games you are playing, and what your experiences are like. Our C&C will be checking in soon to see what you're up to!

  6. It looks like you're off to a great start, Sophia. Do you have a framework you're working with (or one you're creating yourselves) to judge the various qualities of the games? I imagine user friendliness has multiple aspects to it. I'm looking forward to seeing how you break this down to make concrete comparisons between different games.
